In the past we did not need to be aware of processes such as the carbon cycle, which is essential for all life on the planet. It was self-regulating and affected little by human activity. But today, we are changing its workings in dangerous ways by burning fossil fuels and reducing the earth’s vegetation. It has taken us a long time to learn that we are also seriously reducing the number of species of both animals and plants on the planet. We do not feel our planet changing, and our responses to what is happening are halfhearted because we do not yet feel the consequences. – Peter Seidel, page 31, from his book ‘THERE IS STILL TIME’

Welcome! Climate Change Community is now a place where one visits to educate oneself, have meaningful dialogue, find ideas, solutions, and resources, browse the article library, and more. It includes groups, forums, zoom and webinar rooms, profile management, and soon more advanced features. What motivates these creative efforts is our intense anxiety and alarm about our children’s future in lieu of our Climate Emergency as detailed in the past IPCC reports!

Climate Change Community and the actual communities under its umbrella are not for us viewed as a social media site(s), they are or can be considered an educational venue, sort of like a free library of resources and more. So in essence Climate Change Community and the communities can be considered a feasible tool to use towards self-education, participate in meaningful dialogue and a center for a sustainable community cooperation and collaboration. We can combine our efforts in this way using this now valuable tool.

We have been working on some specific ‘community based ideas’ (template format) that can be used by States, Cities, Towns, Villages and Communities to help tackle the Climate Emergency. See details of templates and examples on the subscription page with detailed explanations of the benefits of this tool which is designed to help tackle the Climate Emergency using community collaboration and cooperation in a beneficial way.

– It is a confirmed fact that one of the beneficial actions around the planet right now is that many skilled and highly educated professionals are receiving their Climate Change Professional Certifications. As well universities and private institutions are also training people as well in both degree and non-degree sustainability types of skill-set. To seek out knowledge from these professionals which many are teachers, scientist, philosophers, writers, educators and others that have cemented and honed their capability to a masters level is key for many of us.

– There are also many cities, organizations, climate groups and individuals hosting webinar and video conference meeting and they are for the most part welcoming to those who are willing to learn, offer and participate. Speaking from first-hand experience this is very supportive and beneficial as you have front row seats to some of the important climate action that is taking place within local cities and other locations around the world.

– These two last points give us the gems to increase our education, and more in order to help each other. If the Climate Emergency becomes truly unmanageable, we have the potential to go from living day-to-day to surviving day-to-day or we can bypass this and move more towards interacting on a humanistic level. Turning are current climatic hardships and struggles into opportunities which leads to us sustainably evolving. It is our intention to help with this transition by hosting online dialogue sessions in the near future.

This is an emergency. The timescales are different to those that we regularly respond to, but if we don’t act, the consequences are horrendous.” – Paul Netherton, Deputy Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police, leader of the newly formed Devon Climate Impacts Group, United Kingdom
